Who schedules lectures for 9am on Monday morning? Huh? Seriously! Like anyone is going to learn something at that time. Pfft. Anyway on the way back from said lecture I was struck by the blue of the sky this morning. It was bright sunny and clear and COLD! I decided I would like to try and capture today’s blue so I planned a “looking up at a bit of a building shot” as I quite like them. The thing was what building? I wandered back from uni through the Sheffield Winter Gardens and into the Peace Garden and there I noticed the Novatel, well the back end of it to be precise I noticed how its geometric shape was echoed in the new St Paul’s development and I thought I might have my shot. I fired off a few frames and wandered home. The shots were ok but the buildings were a bit underexposed so I was in need of Photomatix! So this is a HDR, a single shot HDR which is a technique I have used quite often in the 365. Once I was happy with the tone mapping I reimported it into lightroom and boosted the blue saturation slightly to really make the sky stand out.

Other Inspiration: Whilst compiling this post I realised that I am lucky to live in such a picturesque city. Many people who have not been to Sheffield (including me earlier on in life) assume that as a former industrial town it must be a very grim place. Its not! Its really really nice.
